Improving the quality of human life is only possible with continuous and sustainable scientific development in all aspects of life. One of the main priorities in achieving sustainable development is a careful review of issues related to the field of research ethics and engineering ethics.
The harm and losses resulting from ignoring research ethics and engineering ethics have caused great and sometimes irreparable damage to the body of knowledge and the process of scientific development on the one hand, and to people's lives and the environment on the other. Paying attention to research ethics and engineering ethics means exploring the foundations and application of ethical principles in research and engineering, teaching those principles correctly, providing ethical guidelines, and dealing seriously and appropriately with improper behavior.
In recent years, unfortunately, we have witnessed a part of the research and engineering community distancing itself from these foundations. Therefore, by educating and training researchers, scientists, and engineers committed to ethical principles, we can contribute to the process of healthy scientific development. One of the goals of the IEEE Iran Section, especially in 2015 and 2016, is to raise public awareness in the field of engineering ethics.
